The cottage was so inviting & relaxing, we spent more of our vacation time there than we had planned.
My husband and I were the lucky first renters! Everything was new and updated and full of charm. The 3 bedrooms were all decorated with a different theme (we chose the butterfly room). The beds were very comfortable and cozy. In fact, I went home and bought the same fluffy, white blankets for my own beds. The kitchen was my favorite room. I loved the chandelier over the farm sink, under-cabinet lights and every utensil, cookware or appliance you would ever need (all new) and a gas stove! We didn't eat in the perfectly decorated dinning room very often because the deck, surrounded by trees, was so inviting. A must do if you stay there - go to the grocery store in Bar Harbor and buy a couple of freshly steamed lobsters and eat them outside on the deck! A very pleasant memory of our trip. -Colleen B. This is an awesome cottage. It is warm, cozy, very comfortable, sparkling clean and everything you need at your finger tips. The owners have thought of everything to make it an enjoyable stay. You will enjoy the lovely deck just off the kitchen after a busy day away. (Remember to bring home some lobster to cook out there) Wether you are sitting on the deck, in front of the fireplace or relaxing readying a book on a cozy bed you will feel the peace and quiet surrounding the cottage. Very convenient for exploring Acadia Nat'l Park and Bar Harbor. The cottage is well maintained and decorated with care. We surely would love to return someday.
-Alan and Doreen G. Great property, great location for Acadia & Bar Harbor visits - garage is bonus for bikes!!
Our family of four stayed (2 boys; 11 & 14) at the Acadia Garden Cottage (AGC) in mid-October for a 5 day visit of Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and the rest of Mount Desert Island. We couldn't have been happier with AGC as it provided us more than our needs at an affordable price. It was a 10 min ride to both Bar Harbor and the entrance to Acadia. We spent our days hiking, biking, exploring Acadia and B/H. The cottage is set back off street enough that the sounds of traffic aren't too bad. The kitchen is nicely upgraded, while the house still retains that 100 year old charm. And the garage was a bonus as we had 4 bikes to store during day/night; none of the other properties we looked at had anything remotely similar. If you come to Acadia and love to bike, the 50 miles of carriage roads are a great way to tour this national park. Note: The falling acorns were large and frequent during our stay. We assume this is common in October. So, we had to park our car in an area of the driveway that wasn't under a tree. It was no big deal but, it caught us off guard the first night. Great vacation home for a family of 5!
Felt like home for the week! Kids were able to play outside, even ride their bikes in the driveway! The back porch and garden area is very peaceful. I loved how everything you needed was there for you, didn't have to worry about sheets, towels, even laundry detergent! Great experience from the beginning to end. -West Virginia Acadia Garden Cottage is a true gem on Mount Desert Island. Having the historic bones of the house so beautifully preserved in its updates means absolute comfort in a wonderfully charming setting. Its location is key to all of the activities that the island has to offer- close to Bar Harbor and its shops and restaurants, and yet closer still to the quiet beauty of Acadia National Park. Deborah and Douglas are a joy to work with, and their love of this property shows in all of its personal touches. -Susan A.
Relaxing and convenient
Acadia garden cottage was perfect for our first visit to Acadia. With my son and daughters families including 2 grand daughters age 1 and 5, this was perfect. We were minutes from Acadia and Bar harbor and the dive in theater with capt Ed. A short drive to a quiet spot for naps and a meal, Internet, TV, washer, dryer, two baths, deck with a gas grill gave us all of the conveniences of home. On route 3 I could hear the traffic but it didn't bother anyone else in my family.-I would stay here again! -New Jersey great vacation home for our family of 5!
Felt like home for the week! Kids were able to play outside, even ride their bikes in the driveway! The back porch and garden area is very peaceful. Not as close to Bar Harbor as we had hoped, but this was mostly due to construction, which the realtor company this rents through told us about before renting so all was good! I loved how everything you needed was there for you, didn't have to worry about sheets, towels, even laundry detergent! Great experience from the beginning to end. -West Virginia |
